Who I help / OFWs

Covered in two countries. Certain of neither.

There is an employer policy you were handed in a language you half read, and a set of Philippine benefits you have not touched in years. Nobody has ever put the two side by side.

A Zoom financial planning session between Rodel Hermogenes and a client

WHAT THE SURVEY FINDS

What the survey turns up when you work abroad

  1. 01

Nobody has read the employer policy

You were given a benefits booklet on arrival, possibly in a language you only half read, and you have not opened it since. It may be generous. It may be close to nothing. Right now it is neither, because it is simply unknown.

  2. 02

Your Philippine benefits have been idling

SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG. Some OFWs keep contributing, many quietly stop, and almost nobody knows what their record currently entitles them to. That is a five minute check with real consequences for your retirement.

  3. 03

The cover abroad probably does not follow you home

Whatever your host country or employer provides is usually tied to the visa and the job. It very rarely walks back through NAIA with you, which is exactly the moment your family assumed it would be there.

  4. 04

    The remittance has no destination

Years of sending money, and nothing structural to show for it. Not through carelessness. A remittance with no plan attached to it becomes household consumption by default, because that is the only instruction it was ever given.

AFTER THE SURVEY

Distance stopped being the obstacle

All of this runs on Zoom, so the only thing that matters is which hour suits you. We do exactly what we would do across a table: put your employer’s cover, your Philippine benefits, and your remittance on one page, and see what the three of them actually add up to. Then we build something that keeps working whether you are in Dubai, Singapore, or back in Bulacan, and that will not quietly lapse because a payment was missed while you were at sea.

WHAT GETS DRAWN

Six things a plan can hold. You will not need all six.

Which of these end up in your drawing is decided by what the survey turns up, not by what I would like to sell.

  • Income protection

If your income stopped, this is what keeps the rent paid and the tuition current while the household works out what happens next. For a breadwinner it is the first thing we size and the last thing we cut.

  • Health protection

Critical illness and hospitalisation cover that pays on diagnosis. The whole point is that the money arrives before the bills do, so nothing has to be sold in a hurry at the worst possible time.

  • Retirement planning

Run your actual SSS figure and most people go quiet for a moment. This is the fund that closes the distance between that number and the life you had been quietly assuming.

  • Education planning

Tuition arrives on a date you already know and it does not negotiate. Funding it deliberately is the difference between a plan and a scramble.

  • Investment planning

Long term, pointed at a goal you can say out loud. Not a tip, not a flip, and not something you feel you have to check every morning.

  • Existing policy review

Bring whatever you already own, from any company. I will read it properly and tell you what it does, what it does not, and whether it is worth keeping. Frequently it is, and that conversation costs you nothing.

SAID OUT LOUD

OFWs, honestly

Can I get a Philippine policy while I am working abroad?

Generally yes. Filipino citizens working overseas can hold Philippine life insurance, and the whole process, from assessment to signing, can be done remotely. There are country and occupation exceptions, particularly for high risk work and certain conflict regions, and I will tell you early and plainly if you fall into one rather than after you have filled out an application.

The time difference makes this difficult.

It really does not. I run sessions early morning and late evening Manila time for exactly this reason. Put your city in the assessment and tell me whether morning, afternoon, or evening works where you actually are, and I will book into your day rather than mine.
